22 May Meet Moorabbin Hospital Volunteer, Phil
What a great opportunity volunteering at Monash Health gives us to lend a helping hand to people at perhaps the most fragile and vulnerable time of their lives.
As a Concierge at Monash Moorabbin and a former carer for my wife I understand the challenges patients have to deal with; tiredness from lack of sleep, pain, financial worries, traffic hassles, parking issues, where to go-who to see…….All of this and more and at the same time trying to get well, dealing with treatments and hoping that you’ll get well and get back to normality again.
Irene and I were so very impressed with the love and care we received that we were often moved to tears by the kindness shown to us. After my wife passed away I knew that when life returned to some normality I would come back to help others in some small way as a Volunteer.
I feel it’s such a great place to be, working with incredibly generous people who from the top down try to help in ways large and small to make the patients and their carers feel that they are not alone.
