Meet Alisha Hill

As part of Refugee Week 2019 (16-22 June) we would like to introduce you to Alisha Hill Administration Officer in the Monash Refugee Health and Wellbeing team.

What is the most rewarding part of your role?

The most rewarding part of my role is being organised so that the Doctors I run clinic for have everything they need on hand to make their job easier. With files up to date, interpreters booked etc. If it is easier for the Doctors and nurses to see clients, the treatment the patient gets is better.

What role can health professionals play in helping refugees?

By having no judgement and listening to the person. It can be difficult with a language barrier but with the help of interpreters we all can communicate.

One thing about me that people probably don’t know is..

I am a regular plasma donor and raise money year round for the Cancer Council.

Refugee Week is an annual activity aiming to raise awareness about refugee issues, and celebrate the valuable contribution refugees make to Australian society. #WithRefugees is the continuing theme for Refugee Week 2019. This theme seeks to raise awareness and understanding of the refugee journey and to celebrate the positive contribution that refugees make to Australian society.
