11 Sep Local perspectives headline RU OK? panel
A panel of Monash Health employees and volunteers will provide invaluable local perspectives at tomorrow’s RU OK? Day Mental Health Forum at Monash Medical Centre.
Supporting mental health and wellbeing is important to Monash Health and this event will promote engaging conversation.
The panellists are:
Rosemary McKemmish is the Monash Doctors Wellbeing Officer and in this role she supports them and acts as an advocate and contact person for our junior medical staff who may be experiencing workplace or other stressors. Rosemary also works to raise the profile of the importance of mental health and wellbeing for all Monash Doctors.
Rhiannon Koppel is a Dual Diagnosis Peer Worker whose lived experience in dealing with both mental illness and drug and alcohol use provides a valuable perspective.
Rick Bennetts is a Carer and member of Monash Health’s Mental Health Consumer Carer Committee. In his roles, Rick has developed a deep insight into the challenges associated with mental health.
Among the questions covered by the panel will be:
• What are some of the myths about suicide?
• What is important to be aware of when people are struggling with suicidal thoughts?
• What advice or support do you have for people who ask RU OK?
