02 Dec Liz Allen successfully completes Nurse Practitioner Masters Program
Members of Monash Diabetes were delighted to host an afternoon tea today to congratulate team member Liz Allen who recently completed her Nurse Practitioner Masters with first class honours.
Liz joined Monash Health in September 2018 as a Nurse Practitioner candidate in Diabetes, having been a credentialed Diabetes Nurse Educator for 18 years. She brought with her a wealth of experience in diabetes management in chronic disease management in both community and acute settings as well as clinical experience in midwifery, palliative care, Aboriginal Health and Coronary Care.
Since working with the Diabetes team at Monash Health, Liz has worked collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate changes in insulin pump services, chronic disease management and HARP diabetes services and gestational diabetes management. As well as balancing personal study for her Masters, Liz has participated in community diabetes services such as DAFNE, attending and presenting at national conferences and developing an education program in advanced insulin management to support the type 1 diabetes service.
Future projects include working in the diabetes technology and electronic education space for both staff and consumers and identifying service delivery gaps where improvements and innovations can be affected.
