Electronic Waste is banned from landfill: find your site’s collection point

As of 1 July 2019, it will be illegal to put Electronic Waste (E-Waste) into landfill in Victoria under new state legislation. This applies to work and home environments. This is to protect our environment and enable the recovery of more resources. E-Waste contains hazardous materials that can harm the environment, as well as valuable materials that can be recovered and re-purposed.

E-Waste is defined as anything with a plug, cord, battery or has an electromagnetic current running through it. Examples include computers, mobile phones, keyboards, kettles and electronic medical equipment, cabling and wiring.

Monash Health have organised E-Waste collection points at all sites. So don’t bin it, just contact your site’s Support Services Manager for details on where to take it. Any questions can be directed to the Sustainability Officer.

We thank you for your efforts in preventing E-Waste from going to landfill and look forward to continuing to improve Monash Health’s environmental footprint.
