11 Feb A look forward for the Victorian Heart Hospital
New artist impressions have been released of the Victorian Heart Hospital.
Director of MonashHeart, Professor Stephen Nicholls said that the establishment of a large construction area on Blackburn Road has sparked a lot of interest.
“People are noticing the large site, and prominent Victorian Heart Hospital signage. These artist impressions are an exciting way to look forward to project completion in 2022.”
The Victorian Heart Hospital will be a Monash Health facility and will feature up to 206 beds.Professor Nicholls said the facility represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reshape our approach to clinical care, research and teaching for heart disease.
“This is an incredible development for our community as we work to understand Australia’s biggest killer, so we can develop better approaches to prevention and treatment,” Professor Nicholls said.
The Victorian Heart Hospital will be able to deliver 2,150 cardiac surgeries, up to 13,500 cardiac laboratory procedures and 108,000 consultations each year.
It will also play an important role in training future heart specialists and nursing and allied health professionals. The hospital will educate more than 300 undergraduate students, 260 postgraduate students and 20 PhD students each year.
We’re proud to partner with the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority and Monash University to deliver the $564 million project.
